Grocery shopping at 1am? Yup, it's possible with the new addition of St. Mark's Market on St. Mark's Place between 2nd and 3rd Ave. The best part is not only is it open late, but it's also a well-stocked, well-lit, and clean store. That's saying quite a bit considering it's location. I found much of what I needed for a Jamie Oliver recipe for cooking chicken in a foil bag: chicken breast, garlic, thyme, butter, and potatos. The various meats they were selling looked fresh and clean. The quality and variety of vegetables and fruit were well above average compared to what the other grocery stores in the area had. I wish I could comment on the price of the produce, but I don't go grocery shopping enough to know what's expected. Unlike the other boring new stores that have opened on that street, I hope this one actually sticks around for a long time. If you're in the neighborhood, check it out.

No more Friends. :(
Was it just me or was Phoebe weird in the last episode? I don't mean Phoebe-weird, but really left-field even for her. I mean, what was up with the Broadway tunes?? And who are they trying to fool with those feeble attempts to hide Courteney Cox Arquette's pregnancy? Of course, I was glad to see Ross and Rachel back together, but it just pisses me off that the powers that be decided to draw out that whole situation for 7 years! It made me so happy to see them together from early '96 to the break of early '97. After they broke up that first time, I lost interest in the show for a long while. Throughout the years the show toyed with my feelings and made me believe that maybe they'll get back together again, but it was always a carrot on a stick. The last scene where Rachel is standing behind Ross with her arms around him--I should have seen that years ago! The way that they tried to cram all the reconciliation between the 2 of them into 2 epidsodes was not nearly enough closure for true supporters of the R&R hookup. All in all, the producers, writers, NBC, whoever is ultimately responsible for this, could have handled things a lot better. One of the best shows on TV ended with a whimper. It was quite disjointed and unsatisfying. I say a do-over is in order.
