Not feeling the holiday spirit yet? Go watch Love Actually. If all those Christmas songs aren't enough don't do it for you, then surely the scenes of family gatherings, holiday decorations and festivities ought to do it. One of the themes of this movie seems to be that at Christmas (and only at Christmas, apparently), you're allowed to bare your soul and tell the truth about your feelings. This "rule" manifests itself in different couples throughout the movie and not to worry, it's not a Disney fairy tale where everything is predictable and everyone goes home happy. It brings several issues to mind that might challenge what you think of love.

After wearing out my copy of Any Given Thursday on DVD, I finally found myself living the dream tonight when I saw John Mayer in concert! He was charming, funny, personable, and simply spectacular. The way the man plays a guitar makes me wonder why the piano was the reigning instrument for so long. I mean, if you can do that then why would you want to do anything else? I know everyone wants to see pictures, so click here.

I came away with a new favorite song, "Wheel" (off the Heavier Things album). The sing-a-long at the end of the song was incredible. It was definitely a night to remember.

For the umpteenth time, I got to meet Ms. Gibson, my first musical inspiration. After so many encounters I still get all nervous in front of her and worry about what I'm going to say. This particular time was at the CD signing at Coconuts by Rockafeller Center. To everyone's delight, there was a small stage set up so she could perform her oldies and some tracks off the new Colored Lights album.

My heart nearly leaped right out of my chest when I heard the intro to "Electric Youth"! Boy did that bring us all back to the 80's! She did a medley of the oldies so we only got to hear a bit of each song but it was enough to get all of us (who remember what good pop was) on a high. The new album consists of covers of show tunes, except for one song, "Sex", which she originally wrote for her own show Skirts. I'm glad she had a track from Les Miserables in there since I missed her run when she was in it on Broadway years ago. At least now I have a taste of what she was like in that show.

So now there's another signed CD and picture to show everyone!
