One thing that I really don't like about the closing shift is getting the bloody munchies! I've been shoving food into my mouth every hour since I started working today. What makes it worse is that I felt so full after I had Quiznos for lunch at 4PM. When I got to work at 5PM, I had a craving for a sugary bowtie. Around 6PM, I had another bowtie. 7PM saw me indulging in a Strawberry Shortcake ice cream bar. By 8PM I was popping some Quick Bites mini cookies. I scavengered around and found some fortune cookies at 9PM. And now at 10PM, I'm crunching on an apple. Good thing I rode my new bike to work today!

A friend of mine whom I've known for over 3 years recently passed away. He was an ambitious, thoughtful, spiritual man who I've spent hours upon hours talking to and laughing with. And today, out of the blue, I find out that he won't be able to see the arrival of his firstborn son after all. I pray for his family and friends and that we all learn to become more thankful for every person in our lives.

Uh, uh. All Mac enthusiasts beware. Apple is at it again.

G5.

I knew this day was coming, but I never expected it to be so soon. My G4 Powerbook isn't even 1 year old yet!

For someone who was looking forward to Matrix Reloaded for about a year now, you'd think that I would have been one of the first ten thousand people to watch it in its opening weekend. But school and work kept me away from the cinemas--until today!

Me being tardy 'ol me, I sat down in the theater a couple minutes late and so I spent a while wondering what the setting of the scene was and even wondered if I'd stepped into the wrong room and was catching the end of the movie. Movies, like popular concerts, are not supposed to start on time! Anyway, once I was all caught up, I was thoroughly engaged. The storyline kept me guessing as to what the ending will be and there were just enough twists in there to keep me from ever thinking that I could anticipate what was coming next. The few criticisms that I had didn't have too much of an effect on my overall impression of the movie. One was about the scene when Neo fights a whole army of Agent Smiths. I could tell exactly when the it was real people fighting and when it switched to an animation. The body movements and facial features were not terribly convincing but it was the only time when the technology disrupted my experience with the movie. Another change that I would appreciate is to have more time and clues to work with when the characters lay down heavy statements that you just know have something to do with the whole point of the trilogy. From what I gathered, it has something to do with control and purpose.

One of the aspects of this movie that really drew me in was the relationship between Neo and Trinity. The way that he held her at the end of the movie is what every hopeless romantic dreams of. It was hilarious when Neo had to do something with another woman in order to get to the next stage in his quest and Trinity reacted by...well, you'll just have to see for yourself!

So that's it. The end of an era. David Beckham is leaving Manchester United and going to Real Madrid.

Since she was ending her run on Cabaret this past weekend, I rushed to catch Deborah Gibson at the stage door on last Friday. It was drizzling and I had forgotten to take my umbrella with me, but fortunately the person that I stood next to was kind enough to tilt his my way. When she finally emerged from the theater, I called out to her and she smiled at me! We had a little chat and she mentioned that she was thinking of doing an all-acoustic album next. The au natural sound was also kind of the idea behind Think With Your Heart (which incidentally I had dug out 5 days ago since I had a craving for it) and to this day, it still gets me swooning over the vocal and orchestral arrangements on the ballads. I can't wait to hear what the new stuff is going to sound like! Gosh, I wonder what it would feel like to throw up mics for her piano and sit in the control room while she does her thing... Yup, I'm still chasing that dream after one and a half decades and every now and then I get the feeling that I'm getting closer. One day, I tell you, one day...

It's Cirque du Soleil week on Bravo! They have their Run Away with Cirque marathon running this Monday through Thursday from 8PM to 1:30AM. It all leads up to the premiere of Varekai on Saturday. Boy, I sure wish I had TiVo right about now! I'm surprised that they would air Varekai on network TV when it's North American tour isn't even half way through yet. But hey, I'm not complaining...

It's been 3 weekends since the Spring semester ended and I'm still getting used to being able to do whatever I want on the weekends without feeling guilty and hating myself for not doing any homework. I really like having time to read what I want and not just what I had to for research for a paper. Yesterday, I read an article in this month's Time magazine titled, "What Makes You Special" that was written by the same author whose book, "Genome: The Autobiography of a Species in 23 Chapters" was enthusiastically recommended in one of my classes last semester and that I've been meaning to look into for a few months now. I'm really looking forward to catching up on more good reading this summer.
