The Dog Club was all over the place when I was in Singapore earlier this year. Today, I spotted a huge billboard in the middle of Times Square filled with dogs with big heads and tiny bodies. I guess retailers are looking to this to be the teenage obsession this summer. Parents: be warned.

Just got this link from a friend. It's a clear and persuasive presentation of the idea that ancient Chinese people knew of the events as told in the Holy Bible by looking at some Chinese characters and how they're formed. Not that I'm a Chinese language scholar or anything, but whatever characters that I did recognize supported the claims of the author.

Once again, the uppers in the company has decided that it was okay to pay me as little as they thought they could get away with. The last time this happened, it pushed me to make up my mind about handing in my resignation. Maybe it's time for another change of scenery.

Despite being 20 minutes late, I became utterly smitten with Varekai the moment I finally stepped into the big top. It was just as Icarus was reminiscing about his flight, while straining and precariously hanging from the net that held him up high above the stage, when I became immediately enchanted by the experience. Throughout the show, if I wasn't in spine-tingling anticipation or giggling at the comic relief acts, I was thoroughly mesmerized by the blissful marriage of image, movement and sound. As the Cirque puts it, Varekai shows the world that "something else is possible and that will triumphs over all else." Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of The Matrix and other movies of that ilk. But there's just something about seeing a fellow human being, breathing the same air as you, doing something that defies convention without any help from a computer that's just natively intoxicating and inspiring. It's like when they rise above the circumstances, you are right there with them because your spirit instinctively reached out. I lack more words to properly explain it, but in short, I feel like I can fly right now.

YEAH BOY! I'm soooo done with the semester! Whew, those last 2-3 weeks were the hardest but it's finally over! Part of the reason why I so dreaded coming back from Singapore was because I knew that I would have to write a buttload of papers this term. Being quite doubtful that writing papers are the best way to learn, I was already discouraged by the task at the beginning of the year and "I hate my life" became my motto whenever I was faced with yet another paper. Slowly and painfully, I banged out those suckers and now I can actually sleep without a threatening cloud hanging over me. Not to say that life was utterly joyless--I did learn quite a bit of insightful and useful things that will have an immediate effect on how I do certain things. Looking back at these past four months, I only see Him carrying me through and I am incredibly grateful. There was no way that I could have gotten through this by myself.
