With only 3 days standing between me and a flight home, it's taking all the self-discipline that I possess to buckle down and finish up my school projects and not do all the pre-vacation tasks that needs to be taken care of before I split.
Ten bucks says that within a week of landing in Singapore, I will realize that I've forgotten something important back here.
So AOL has gone ahead and redesigned it's webmail interface yet again to have it look even more Windows XP-ish (which, let's face it, is just Playskool's version of OS X). There is a slight improvement though. It feels less cluttered. But I feel uneasy that the sign-out button is so skinny and close to other AOL links.
I'm still sick and coughing up all sorts of stuff, but that doesn't mean I'm not excited about taking off in 9 days! I want to run around and jump out of my skin from all the anticipation and the thrill of it all but alas, there are papers to write, presentations to give and projects to complete. So back to work...(cue whip cracking).
I stumbled upon an article about making MIDI sound more realistic that does a pretty comprehensive job so if you're into that sort of thing, check it out.
Last year will always be remembered as the year that I didn't get really sick.
Only about 3 months into this academic year and already I've been seriously ill twice. Yesterday I could barely stand up let alone talk (Thanks to the muck that accumulated in my throat during the night. I'm sure you're dying to know all the details but I'll leave it to your imagination.).
Fortunately, I was able to force myself to sleep it off all yesterday so I felt well enough to go back to work today without as much discomfort as before. The weird thing was that after I called in to work sick yesterday, I started to think of all the errands that I could take care of now that my day was free. Then I had to stop and remind myself that I was bedridden for the whole day! Just goes to show how deeply imbedded in school and work I've been and how much I'm anticipating my vacation back home!
I'm proud to say that with the single exception of Thanksgiving day itself, I did not stuff myself to the point of let-me-just-sit-here-and-digest-don't-nobody-even-think-of-touching-me.
After reading an article about the all-digital audio and video process that Episode II went through, I rented the DVD to see if it was all worth the massive effort. Take a second to enjoy the images in the Naboo island scene and another to listen to the sounds in any of the fight sequences and you'll agree that digital makes a difference in this type of movie.
2 1/2 more weeks left before I'm bathed in 80+ degree weather!
