3 1/2 more weeks to go before I set foot on the land I love! (no offense to the Home Of The Brave, of course)

In the process of trying to get used to doing all of my work on a Mac now instead of a PC, I've found Audacity to be a great freeware program which allows me to do a lot of quick mono/stereo editing, like when I need to trim a file before processing in Csound. If you can't afford Peak and you only use it for those simple functions, try Audacity instead.

Just dropping a quick note to spread the word that registration for OIL 2003 is now available online at winteroil.org. It's a life-changing experience each time I go and if it wasn't for the fact that I'd be out of the country during the conference this year, I'd be all signed up and ready to go.

Speaking of which, 5 more weeks to go before I fly home! Can't wait to be with my beloved relatives again!

Whoa, this sure takes me back to 5 months ago when I was in Paris. And it also reminded me to spread the word that national museums in Paris have free admission on the first Sunday of every month. It's a nice tip when you're broke and craving those kinds of things. Oh, and another word of advice: if you use miniDV tapes, buy them before you leave the States! I couldn't find a single store which sold those things in Paris. And with Versailles on the itinerary, it forced me to be extra stingy about what I videotaped.

Now that I have the time to sit down and update this thing, I've forgotten what I've been saving up to write about. Not counting the previous post, I haven't been blogging for about a month and it's not because I don't have anything to pass on. Believe you me, that is so not the case.

Let's see, for starters there was the time when I re-learned the lesson about how the only thing that ultimately matters is pleasing God. No matter how badly you've screwed things up, you shouldn't let the thought of someone else's impression of you weigh more than what God thinks of you.

And then there was the private MTV concert that took place in the studio where I work so all of the employees got VIP passes which allowed us to roam about. It was a great time spent with co-workers and seeing the music performed for the first time. It's an incredible view of the magical process from conception to delivery of the artform since the album that the concert was promoting was mostly written and recorded at our facilities.

I'm still recovering from the two weeks where I worked two jobs and juggled school too. I'd leave the apartment at 8:45AM and come back as late as 2AM. After those weeks, I had a tracking session in the following week that didn't let me get home until past 4AM. This week's reason for sleep deprivation is a 10-page midterm paper for one of my classes. The room has only recently stopped spinning and I'm so glad to be back here on earth and not feeling like I'm floating 20' above it.

So in a nutshell, I'm busy, busy, busy but learning lots of things and having some fun along the way.
